This is very important information. Thanks for sharing with us.
And not before time. I hope they rush the bill through. The government is having talks about the very same issue, here in the UK. Our ATM charges are scandalous.
Thanks so much for writing! Whenever there are disagreements over price, it always boils down to which side of the aisle one sits.
Embracing a consumer's perspective, I can easily see how ATM fees are viewed as excessive or unfair.
However, I know independent owners of ATM machines, and understand the work involved and the costs associated with ensuring that the machines have adequate cash on hand and are operating without incident.
Perhaps it's also a question of consumer choice: If any given ATM fees are deemed too high, the consumer simply does not have to withdraw cash from that ATM.
I truly appreciate your post!

This is really an informative post.I think that ATM fees which are really an unfair cost for the consumer.Sometimes an ATM holder faces the problem that their money is automatically withdrawn without doing any transactions.I truly agree with you. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for your comment. However, I'm not sure what you mean when you say that money is automatically withdrawn from an ATM holder's account without him.her initiating transactions. Are you asserting that some banks are charging a general fee for just providing an ATM card?
Be that as it may, ATM fees have been a mainstay for years -- and there's been greater debate about them as they continue to spiral upward.
Still, whether unfair or simply too high, any given customer can "opt out" and not use the ATM to avoid the concomitant fees.

Every time the bank issuing the card charges a fee, the fee will appear on the customer’s monthly statement. When an ATM card is used to make purchases, a retailer may also add a fee to your purchase total. If this happens, the store is required by law to disclose the charge to the customer in a display at the checkout counter. The retailer’s fee is added to the purchase amount.
Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment! While many retailers will not tack on a surcharge for ATM debit purchases, others will, and should inform the merchant -- although state law requirements vary.
The topic of credit card and ATM / debit card surcharges is very confusing as Visa and MasterCard typically prohibit merchants from surcharging customers who use plastic and 10 states outlaw the practice entirely.
Still, some merchants are able to surcharge pin-based debit cards, for example, if the processing is not done over Visa/MasterCard networks.
Thanks again for your contribution to my blog!

Your blog is intellectual. I must appreciate your concept.
Interesting post. Straight to the point and has really good quality. Thanks for sharing this information. Keep posting!
I guess ATM surcharges should be shared equally among all 3 benificeries Bank, Users, and ATM owners, if any. This will decrease the burden on general medium class users.
What you say pals?

This is a novel idea but I don't know too many enterprises where entities that earn profit share their profit with those who contributed to that profit in the first place. I don't see ATM users as part of the sharing profit equation.
Users can only hope that ATM fees will stabilize, decrease, or become more competitive.
Thanks for taking the time to read my blog and contribute your comment.
