I'm particularly glad that I highlighted this issue then as it is better to know about any possible reserve before one opens a merchant account.

The alternative of pay pal, you can also use master-card and visa and more. Here you give an idea in ways one should transfer money through online. Really a nice topic. Thanks.
While it's true that many entities can faciliate the transfer of funds from customer to merchant, the thrust of the blog entry is that processors may decide to withhold a percentage of the merchant's transactions. Obviously, this is not beneficial to the merchant so it behooves him/her to find a processor that will provide full funding, if possible.

Very nice post on account section. We always have problem in understanding in paypal system, this type of information will help us a lot.
This is a very useful blog for [credit card processing information].
I think more and more people are becoming sick of paypal. They are the biggest and they know it so treat customers with little respect IMO. I think they need to be used but you definitely need at least one alternative also.
While PayPal has its share of critics, the company does present a relatively affordable solution to accept credit cards -- and may be the only option for some business owners.
However, as you know, PayPal may not satisfy the needs (and expectations) of others so alternatives need to be reviewed. We like to think of our business, IntelliCollect, as such an alternative.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for reading the blog and submitting your comment. Underwriting groups try to perform a thorough evaluation and make their decisions on a case-by-case basis. Most merchant account providers do not typically mandate reserves but may do so for deemed higher risk businesses.
They look at the nature of the merchant's business, his/her credit rating, the length of time that a business has been in operation, etc., when figuring out how much reserve, if any, is needed. There is no hard and fast formula.
