We use heartland payment systems for our ecommerce processing, but they are lousy...
Hi Evan,
I am sorry to hear that it's not working out with your current processor. I hope that it does not sour your taste with true merchant account providers, in general. Indeed, there are many reputable ones -including us.

from what i've heard heartland payment systems does the job very well
Heartland, like almost all merchant account companies, receives their share of criticism and praise. I know that they received vehement condemnation when they got ensnared with the security breach.

If you’re ready to launch an e-commerce enterprise, you’re going to have to obtain a credit card processing service.Merchant accounts allow you to gather and access more customer information as they supply the personal details to you. Customer information is more limited with third party services. Nice Blog and nice topic "Credit Card Processing Without a Merchant Account". Thanks for the information.....
Thanks for your comment. The merchant is not only to obtain more information about the customer, but in turn, the customer can more readily identify the merchant when a given business owner uses a true merchant account provider.
Remember, if you select PayPal (a typical third party processor), the customer's statement will indicate "PayPal" and not your business's name after a transaction takes place. This can lead towards a greater frequency of chargebacks.

Hi Andy,
I like to say I really learned something from this post which gives us the additional option of not opting for a merchant account(because of a variety of reasons such as we might not have enough sales volume to actually be taken seriously at the beginning). Processors will be a definite option for our store-to-be.
Good reads so far. I've bookmarked your site.
Thanks.

Hi Glenn,
Yes, each merchant must evaluate his/her set of circumstances and make the appropriate decision regarding processing vendor based on unique needs.
Initially, a third party processor may work for many small business merchants.
There are so many options so thoughtful consideration is necessary.
